about us

Three Decades of Care, Trust, and Family

Pikkie Park Educare didn’t start as a business — it started as a calling. For over 30 years, we’ve been a second home to the families of Welgelegen and the surrounding Northern Suburbs. What began as a small educare centre has grown into a beloved institution where children of all ages, from tiny babies to confident Grade 7 learners, come to learn, play, and thrive.

The name ‘Pikkie Park’ reflects our philosophy: this is a place for ‘pikkies’, the little ones. But over the years, those pikkies have grown up, and many have come back to us as parents, entrusting their own children to the same caring hands that once looked after them. This multi-generational trust is what sets Pikkie Park apart.

Our staff are the heart of everything we do. Many of our teachers and caregivers have been with us for 20, 25, even 30 years. This isn’t just longevity for the sake of it, it’s a testament to the culture of care, respect, and belonging that defines Pikkie Park. When you walk through our doors, you’re not just dropping your child off, you’re joining a family.

Situated in the tranquil, tree-lined suburb of Welgelegen at the foot of Tygerberg Hill, Pikkie Park offers a peaceful, safe haven where children can be children. We serve families from across the Northern Suburbs, Welgelegen, Plattekloof, Edgemead, Monte Vista, Panorama, and beyond, and we’re proud to be a trusted part of this vibrant community.

Whether your child is taking their first steps in our baby room, exploring the world as a curious toddler, or tackling homework in our aftercare programme, they’ll be met with warmth, encouragement, and the kind of care that only comes from genuine experience and love.

Bi-Annual Progress Reports

Parents receive detailed, bi-annual reports on their child’s developmental progress across all key areas, keeping you informed and involved in your child’s journey.

Home-Cooked Meals Daily

We provide nutritious, home-cooked meals throughout the day: breakfast, a hot lunch, and healthy snacks at tea time (10:30am and 3pm). Parents can rest easy knowing their children are well-fed.

Long-Serving Staff

Our team isn’t just experienced, they’re devoted. Many of our teachers and caregivers have been with Pikkie Park for 20 to 30 years, bringing stability, wisdom, and genuine care to every child.

Aftercare Transport

For our aftercare families, we offer a reliable transport service to collect children from local schools, giving working parents peace of mind and logistical support.

Safe, Leafy Location

Nestled at the foot of Tygerberg Hill in peaceful Welgelegen, our centre offers a safe, tranquil environment surrounded by greenery, a breath of fresh air from the city bustle.

Open During School Holidays

Pikkie Park operates year-round. During school holidays, we run structured, fun-filled programmes with outings and activities for all age groups, only closing over Christmas and New Year.
